Following the defection of its head of fraud to rival firm Keoghs, Clyde & Co is reportedly offering pay rises and bonuses to the Manchester fraud team to persuade them to stay at the firm.

When star partner Damian Ward quit Clydes last month for Keoghs, rumours abounded that several other members of the team had also been offered positions at the rival firm. But it seems that Clydes has been doing all it can to stop them going, offering pay rises and hefty bonuses, according to an insider. Fraudsters loyal to Clydes will reportedly be compensated with a 5% bonus after three months, another 5% after six months and a further 10% if they can hold on at the firm for 12 months.

    Clydes yesterday

Clydes declined to comment, but the firm's offer to the fraud team has reportedly riled the rest of the Manchester office, where insiders say pay rises of between 3% and, err, 0% were recently awarded. And they're worried that the generous packages being offered may mean there won't be enough in the kitty for decent pay rises next year either.

Does this not sound a bit like something Keoghs might "leak" to destabilise whats left of the team they are targetting?

Anonymous 21 September 12 10:28

No, its entirely true and a very odd decision considering many of the team had already confirmed they were staying, before the bonus was announced. Smacks of desperation to keep the undecided few and a sure fire way to alienate the rest of an already unsettled and disgruntled office.

Wasn't that Keoghs' standard pay rise percentage this year for their "loyal" current employees? To keep enough money in the kitty for the salaries offered to everyone elses staff?

Anonymous 21 September 12 18:24

Even if it's true; so what? Keoghs offered "welcome bonuses" to those they managed to get to resign from Clydes. Why else would they all be going back to somewhere they don't have a good word to say about.

There are some seriously bitter people commenting here. Everyone has the right to withdraw their labour and move on. Suggest those commenting here also move on.

Oh but the 15 leaving to join Keoghs on salaries so big they "would've happily swept roads on" believe they're going to completely overhaul the good ship K. It will be different this time.

Reading the comments here it is clear some people in the North-West (on both sides of the M60) have a lot of growing up to do, as well as a lot of time on their hands? Keoghs is not the only firm those of you in M2 could go to, so don't blame them for the wheels flying off. Why not concentrate on getting on with what work you have left before Chancery Place becomes notch 4 in the TUPE Hall of Shame?

5% for the six or so remaining fraudsters and a cleaner is hardly going to break the bank. If they lose intel the only complete servicing that office will be able to give a client will be down a back alley in Salford.
