A firm in south west London is looking to recruit a property lawyer who can perform magic tricks whilst pitching to clients.

RollOnFriday was alerted to the unorthodox position when a job ad by a recruitment consultant was posted on the web this week. Jonathan Fagan, the recruiter, said that a mindreading criminal solicitor from Kings Lynn had already expressed an interest. Apparently he earns more from his act than his day job.

Sadly this was not enough to impress the law firm, which sent an email saying that "mindreading is all very well. But we are after showmanship and a track record of magical performance. If not, then really we are not prepared to consider him at all". The firm also needs its candidate to have commercial property experience.

"I'm getting a name... John. No, wait, it's Chris. David?"

Fagan said that he couldn't reveal the name of the firm as he didn't have a retained contract, so wouldn't be paid if someone applied directly. But apparently it's not a belated April Fool: the client is deadly serious, and the role will pay between £35,000 and £50,000 depending on experience.
