Is the BBC/media getting/giving wrong impression of mood of nation?

Perhaps understandably given they are saturated with it and are in/covering places where the real royalists gather,  the media seems to be assuming the whole country is sitting around in quiet reflection and thinking of little else.  I have been out and about this morning/lunchtime chatting to people in my unremarkable town and everything is entirely normal.  The overwhelming consensus seems to be to just get on with normal life  until the funeral.  I am seeing no evidence of overwhelming grief or solemnity

They seem to be increasingly doom and gloom merchants.. Or giving airtime to shouty minority interest people who few people really care about.

Not really what I see every day in the real world.
