To the victor the spoils!
The RollOnFriday Firm of the Year 2021 Survey is closing this week.
Over eight questions, lawyers and business services staff working in private practice are invited to anonymously record how satisfied they are with their firm.
Covering pay, management, culture, work/life balance and career development, this year there's a new question to flush out how happy staff are with their firm's response to the COVID-19 crisis.
The survey takes seconds to complete, but the information is atomic. With the thousands of responses received, RollOnFriday uses the responses to assemble the definitive ranking of which are the happiest law firms, and which are the most miserable, godforsaken pits of despair.
The winner is crowned Firm of the Year. The loser gets anointed the Golden Turd.
To the loser, the spoiled.
Last year, Mills & Reeve took the crown and Slater and Gordon got the brown, but now it’s all to play for once again. How will your firm stack up in 2021? It's up to you. The poll is below. Please take a minute to fill it in.

I simply can't wait for BLM's exec board members to jump in with their comments after the results have been published:
ANY VOTE THAT CAME IN AFTER ELECTION DAY WILL NOT BE COUNTED!
ROLL ON FRIDAY'S three-day extension of the ballot deadline is a Constitutional Travesty. Legal scholars agree!
IF YOU COUNT THE LEGAL VOTES, WE EASILY WIN THE ELECTION! IF YOU COUNT THE ILLEGAL AND LATE VOTES, THEY CAN STEAL THE ELECTION FROM US!
People will not accept this Rigged Election!
BIGLY BALLOT COUNTING ABUSE!
ROLL ON FRIDAY prevented us from watching much of the Ballot count. Unthinkable and illegal in this country.
Since when does the LAMESTREAM Media call who our next Golden Turd will be? We have all learned a lot in the last two weeks!

Did BLM pay off ROF on publishing anything about their abhorrent business service restructure procedure? They gave them an 11+ test to decide whether to keep them or not! Verbal and non verbal reasoning will make clear who will make breaches.

Ordinarily Cleary Gottlieb Steen and Hamilton would have been up there, My opinion of the firm has somewhat diminished during 2020.
I certainly wouldn’t rank them in the top 10 n London anymore.
Simmons seem to be leading the way.

@17.46
Are you being serious? Did they really make them sit 11+ tests?

Well this will be fun this year what with all the covid related redunancies and all...

Well, BLM out of the traps very early this year. Looks like we should expect them to feature highly (or should that be lowly...)

@11.11
Yes. My secretary informs there were various tests of which the 11+ style test was one. She asked for a copy of her tests and one with model answers. Her request was denied.

There are a significant number of firms out there who have conducted themselves appallingly this year through total disregard and lack of respect for their employees and some partners. They know who they are and I hope that they’re shitting their pants about what’s going to be paid back to them in spades via FOTY feedback. It might not change things very much but these arsehole firms do need to be properly exposed for what they are: showers of khunts.

It's very concerning, reading through the comments, that these people work in law firms.
Learn to spell and write a coherent sentence. Bloody hell, it's not that difficult.

The video of the goths at the top is fantastic. Better still if you drop the speed to 0.5x and imagine they're dancing to Coldplay.

Have you noticed how all the posts relating to BLM have acquired 70+ 'thumbs down'. Their Elves have been busy...

With profits nosediving 30% even before lockdown, BLM is the new KWM. Watch the trickle of partners away become a flood....

@15.44
It's not only that their profits are sinking faster than the Belgrano, it's that their overdraft has grown to almost student proportions. Their financing costs are fast becoming totally unsustainable.

BCLP has gone up in my estimation. They have played a blinder by repaying all the payments received in 2020 under the government's Job Retention and furlough scheme.

Elves have indeed been busy at BLM. Mid table ranking a certainty now.

@BLMer
If our f*cklustrious leaders put as much effort into leading the firm as they do orchestrating thumb-ups on RoF, we'd be in far better shape.
I often imagine our executive board members on day-long calls, scrambling to anticipate what's likely to appear on RoF, before coming with new and ever more implausible ways to address it.
"Let's switch off the internet. That'll save us."
"Why don't we cut off our employees' fingers?"
"If only we started the firm in North Korea. Can we move to North Korea?"
Well, I'm sorry to say it but the firm is totally and utterly f*cked. Any member with any sense should resign and forego witnessing/being part of the next shake of the charity tin for new capital.
In lieu of receiving any actual profit now for years and years and years, with their credit cards maxed and mortgages through the roof, it's time for them to say: No. You've taken all I have. This needs to stop.

There’s a lot of chatter about BLM. I suspect it won’t end well.

And when it does end, because it will end, HSBC will be left feeling very, very disappointed.

It's starting to happen. The orders have been issued: EVERYTHING IS ON FIRE: OUR CLIENTS ARE LEAVING AND WE HAVE NO MONEY - BUT VISIT THIS LINK AND PAY UNDUE PRAISE TO YOUR LEADERS. WE DEPEND ON YOUR THUMB-UPS.

Can't believe no-one's mentioned Fieldfisher! Definitely for the brown turd those guys!

@19.57 - as well as trying to quietly manage long serving (or should that be long suffering??) staff out the door for 'poor performance' so as to avoid paying them proper redundancy. Tut tut. Very naughty indeed.

@22:59 - as former SG, it's well-known that some of the recent departures have been kicked out, including some for inappropriate relationships
