A Lyons Davidson facilities manager has admitted secretly filming women in the firm's loos. Lyons Davidson, which only found out this week, said it was "shocked".
Anthony Dines used his access as a keyholder at the firm's New Malden office to install a tiny camera in the third floor women's toilets. Dines, who said he had a fetish for watching women urinate, told Camberwell Magistrates Court that he picked the location because the camera was voice-activated and the third floor loos were the busiest.
In 2016 the office administrator removed his camera and fixed it behind a ceiling grate in the single unisex loo of the Vauxhall branch of Starbucks. Nine months later his surveillance was brought to an abrupt halt when a male customer spotted light glinting off the lens. Dines had accidentally recorded himself setting up the camera, and police released his image to the public. He was arrested in November 2017 with a bag-full of cameras, two disguised as key fobs, which he said he was intending to throw away because they implicated him. Dines confessed, and this week pleaded guilty to two acts of voyeurism at the firm and two at the coffee shop, one of which involved filming a customer "doing a private act".
The "devout" Christian worked at Lyons Davison for over four years. Hiding in plain sight, he wrote on his LinkedIn profile that he was responsible for the "monitoring of confidential waste" at the firm. Staff are now horrified that he may have shot a lot more footage during his time there than the two instances for which he was convicted. In a statement, Lyons Davidson told RollOnFriday, “We were appalled by the allegations made against Antony Dines at the end of last week and we are continuing to help police with their enquiries. Yesterday we were shocked to discover that these incidents involved one of our former offices in New Malden and we are working closely with the affected staff to provide them with support”.
A RollOnFriday reporter who was a regular at the Vauxhall Starbucks appeared distressed by the revelation. He said, "hopefully I was in the straight-to-trash category".
