Celebrity traffic lawyer Nick Freeman has claimed that women are to blame when perverts film up their skirts.

Freeman made his name defending clients who were filmed against their will, usually doing 90 in a 30. But on social media he came down on the side of the voyeurs. Last week parliament's attempt to criminalise 'upskirting' was derailed by a lone objection from Tory MP Sir Christopher Chope. While Chope was mocked and colleagues hung underwear on his office door, Freeman took to twitter:

Among the thousands who told Freeman that he was being a prat was his own daughter:

As befits a speeding ticket lawyer who calls himself 'Mr Loophole', Freeman attempted to wiggle out of his daughter's charges on a technicality:

RollOnFriday asked Freeman if he thought floor-length gowns with weighted hems were appropriate, or if they were still a bit slutty and anyone wearing one was basically begging to have the edge heaved up and a camera stuck under the loophole. He did not respond.

but will the law protect those of us who wear the kilt which is after all Scottish national dress?

Anonymous 22 June 18 09:14

Whilst he's correcting grammar, someone needs to tell Nick there's no such word as "firstly" !

Anonymous 22 June 18 09:39

1. I don't think "amplify" is quite what he meant. (Also, there are plenty of stupid views in the press. Katie Hopkins is a "journalist", ffs.)
2. If this comment only makes it into the top three, I would like to know what the other two are!

Anonymous 22 June 18 10:12

Yes, we really need to see the other two stupidest comments to properly evaluate the levels of stupidity

Anonymous 22 June 18 10:26

@anon 07:35 upskirting has been illegal in Scotland since 2009, including kilts.

Legislation probably went through faster because poor put upon men like you were affected.

Anonymous 22 June 18 10:37

Anon at 07:35 - I suppose that simply depends on whether you accept that, legally, a kilt is just a patterned skirt

Anonymous 22 June 18 12:29

He is right about one thing though.

What he wrote is definitely one the most stupid comments he's ever made.

Anonymous 22 June 18 13:03

Only an inept and ignorant parent would resort to correcting their children's grammar in order to maintain a perceived upper hand. He could engage properly in the argument, like an intelligent person. Then again.

Very useful and productive comments about "firstly". People who insist on using "First..... Secondly", or refrain from using "firstly", are doing what they have been told and not thinking for themselves or undertaking any independent research. Try Googling this before you attempt to be pedantic. And while you are at it, why not go for bust and split the infinitive. Now, why not engage in the serious discussion about upskirting?

Anonymous 25 June 18 16:39

@anon at 07:35 The law will protect kilt wearers. The draft legislation does not only apply to women, but to persons.

His choice of language was intemperate (as was RoF's). But if he means that people should exercise common sense he probably has a point. He's not 'coming down on the side of the voyeurs' though, he clearly says 'upskirting' is wrong.
