A former Latham & Watkins partner has jailed for fraud.

Back in 2008 the firm discovered anomalies in US partner Samuel Fishman's expenses claims and time recording. As well as padding his time, he was accused of putting expensive meals and parking fees down as photocopying and postage expenses. That must have been a lot of stamps. In addition he was accused of trying to pass off personal expenses, such as hotel bills, as business expenses. By the time the firm had cottoned on, it seems Fishman had bagged more than $300,000.

Samuel Fishman. Bent. And not in a good way

Fishman was dismissed by the firm and prosecuted. He eventually pleaded guilty to one charge of mail fraud, and this week was ordered to pay back the cash, fined $10,000 and sentenced to 15 months bend and stretch.
