Freshfields continued its efforts to alienate its trainees this week, when its Dispute Resolution department emailed its trainees to say there was no room for them at the team's summer event.

The department had decided to limit the numbers who could attend its summer bonding session, presumably to cut costs. So when it reached maximum capacity it sent an email saying the event was full and that no-one else could attend. However, for some peculiar reason, this email was only sent to the team's trainees. All of them. Including those who had already replied to say they would like to attend.

A spokesman for the firm said that "due to the venue's restrictions on numbers and a very high response rate, we had to unfortunately place trainees on a reserve list. Should any trainees not be able to attend, an additional event will be organised in July." So that'll be one pint of weak lager at the Punch Tavern then.
