Where there's a will, there's a way out

Irwin Mitchell is trimming its private client team, which has resulted in a number of partners leaving the firm.

A source told RollOnFriday that there was a cull of 26 partners, who were suddenly uninvited from the partners' conference. However, the firm said that it does "not recognise that account of events" and that the suggestion that they fired 26 partners is incorrect, but acknowledged that it has "refocused its private client offering".

A spokesperson for the firm said that "as part of a broader strategic review" changes to its private client work included "moving away from providing a volume wills service, which has resulted in a small number of partner exits", adding: "We do not comment on individual leavers."

Last November, RollOnFriday revealed that the firm had axed its Litigation Assistant (LA) role, with 56 staff members impacted across its UK offices. The firm's spokesperson said at the time that, of those 56 people, "the number...leaving the business will be a lot less due to redeployment into new roles".

The Irwin Mitchell probate lawyers, who are leaving the firm, may (or may not) want to take some tips on how to promote their will-making services from this firm, or this firm.

Knights, Gateley, Shamespeare’s, now Irwin Mitchell all culling their family teams. It seems therefore that family law can still be dealt with on the high street.
