Our Litigation, Arbitration and Regulatory Group (LARG) practice in London comprises 27 partners and around 89 associates. We handle a broad range of work in LARG across the following areas:
• Regulatory and criminal enforcement - handling criminal and regulatory enforcement in a range of areas from financial services through to sports law. Our work includes advising clients on how to avoid the substantial risks that investigations pose, assisting clients responding to investigations, including attending interviews and defending clients in both civil and criminal trials.
• Internal investigations – conducting internal investigations in relation to the most complex and cutting-edge issues ranging from insider dealing through to sexual harassment.
• Disputes - advising in relation to the most complex and high-profile civil disputes covering issues ranging from civil fraud to media privacy.
• Compliance - We also assist our clients with financial crime compliance matters in relation to sanctions, money laundering and bribery.
Dealing with a variety of matters: as described above.
High profile work: high value, international matters, with high stakes and complex issues, for and against household names.
Breadth of experience: our lawyers are encouraged to work on a wide range of cases, with a wide range of partners and other lawyers, exercising a wide range of skills.
As a lawyer at Clifford Chance your remit will be to apply your full knowledge of the law within your specialist area by identifying legal issues, drafting and advising clients.
We are looking for an outstanding lawyer with strong relevant post qualification experience; excellent demonstrable working knowledge within commercial litigation or within contentious regulatory matters, investigations and financial crime matters. You will currently be practising at a top-rank practice. In all cases, candidates should be intellectually rigorous, have first-class legal ability and an outstanding academic track record.
We are looking for lawyers who have developed exceptional written and oral communication skills advising clients, with plenty of case handling ability leading a team and/or working as a number 2 in a larger team. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills and be comfortable researching and applying complex areas of law. Expertise in relation to financial services investigations would be particularly welcome, although we also pride ourselves on having excellent generalists with forensic skills which can be readily applied across different legal disciplines. We would also expect to see a mature approach to client business development with perhaps a handful of close client relationships with contacts at the same level of PQE as you. Fundamentally, we are looking for someone who is exceptionally driven, on a steep upward trajectory at their present firm and looking to move to an even more demanding and stimulating challenge.
