Me? 4 x bouts at school
Fought 4 losses 2 (all points)
2 x deemed a draw [for qualifying purposes]
In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade
And he carries the reminders
Of every blow that laid him down or cleft him
Till he cried out in his anger and his shame
I am leaving, I am leaving
But the fighter still remains

You can't uproot something from its roots. Uprooting necessitates the roots remaining connected. Clue is in the word itself. UP-ROOT.
I think what you are referring to is felling, where the tree is of course separated from its roots in a terminal manner. The roots in such a situation, however, remain very much down-rooted, rather than up. You'd probably need some sort of man with a grinder to get rid of them tbh.

Tarqurs that’s nothing.
My reluctant favour to friends of the family if they need a tree felling is that I go round to their house...unzip...unfurl - and then I whip the little man around a tree and then call your mum up which causes it to tighten like a boa constrictor - or a pipe cutter - and it just crushes straight through.
Sturdy boughs of English ash - and fine oak trees have seen their ends, thus
