Why has she handwritten the date in short form and the salutation rather than typing all of it? Had she already prepared the letter and was waiting to date it and see who was in charge when she sent it? That would suggest that she was going to go regardless of what the deal was.

Sails - it's just a parliamentary protocol (the hand written thing). Don't know why they do it but many MP's letters are written like that.
