No, that was a working visit. This one involves him staying at the palace (hope they lock up the silver) and throwing him a banquet.

I really don't get this.

Trump is a chump, etc etc.

But he's also the democratically-elected leader of (so we are told) our greatest ally and, in any event, a country like many other countries whose leaders we host (and some others whose leaders we host who are definitely not democratically-elected).

WTF is the problem with the Queen hosting him and giving him a State visit? Like she periodically does for numerous other leaders from around the world who are arguably much, much more heinous leaders than Trump (and in respect of such visits there is much less objection to or comment on both on ROF or anywhere else).

People seem fuzzy-headed / deranged on this.

He's not staying at the Palace as they've got the decorators in.

But presumably they are similarly unable to accept the political views of, say, the Chinese or Saudi Arabian leaders?

I think a lot of popular opposition to Trump has melted away. He's yesterdays news.

There will be relatively small scale and disruptive protests of course. Still not a reason to keep him away.
