what is the best tropical fruit available in season at Christmas?

a friend has given me a recipe for a sugar syrup suitable for tropical fruit which I have made up and it is absolutely divine. I wish to serve a tropical fruit salad for a party at the weekend.

i am not a huge fruit lover so need some education as to what is in season from sunnier climes at this time of year.
