Tory Director of Campaigning

Has taken a leave of absence yesterday and now being investigated by Gambling Commission over a bet on the timing of the election.

Corrupt to the very end...

Have to laugh at how stupid these people are. "Oh look, a new customer has asked to bet £1k on a v. difficult to predict event. As an entity that relies on improbability for its profits, we will just ignore it."

The director of campaigning suspended for suspecting betting fraud?  This is bonkers third world stuff, why would anyone at all still vote for them?

It's not joining the dots. It's that bookies a) want to advertise widely that they can catch any fraud and b) want to eliminate successful gamblers so have systems in place to flag anyone without "form" putting anything more than pocket change bets on.

Heh

In the past few minutes, the Conservative Party X account has deleted an advert uploaded yesterday.

The video, which features scenes from a roulette wheel, bears the slogan: "If you bet on Labour, you can never win."

well it's easy isn't it, you'd vote for them because while labour might tax your sale of your 3rd yacth registered as your principle private residence, the Tories will only freeze the 0 band and thus share the pain more widley across the people who can least afford it and who have done the least to royally fcuk the country into the coma that we find it in today

Listen Rishi, if you want to go to California you only have to say.

Trying to engineer it with this constant stream of twottery is just sooo passive aggressive.

This is too much 🤣

It is even beating the moronicity levels that the tail end of the Major Government saw with cash for questions debacle (Neil Hamilton, Tim Smith) and prosecutions of former ministers and party activists (Aitken and Archer) for perjory etc, but what is most distressing above all is how pathetically amateur this all is.  It makes the 1990s look sophisticated.

So the gambling commission has asked each gambling site to investigate any bet of £200 or over placed on a July election.  The net is widening and I am sure a few more fish to catch yet....a few will be sweating this...

Greed and corruption at the heart of the Tory party.  Is anyone actually surprised?

I was thinking about that the other day. The ‘Back to Basics’ campaign and the litany of sleaze that followed. The secret families, David Meller v Tim the Toe.

They were never going to win but it was still a competent campaign and they retained much of their heartlands in the South.

This is end of days stuff. They’re going to lose Henley on Thames ffs…

and they had experienced politicians who had held cabinet positions for years and had credibility (Clarke, Hurd etc) with others coming through the ranks.  This lot have no-one equivalent.

YOU ARE ALL VERY WRONG FOR DISCUSSING THIS!!

THERE WILL BE AN INQUIRY!! WHICH WILL REPORT IN DUE COURSE AFTER THE ELECTION!!

AND UNTIL THEN IT IS QUITE WRONG TO PAY ANY ATTENTION TO THIS STORY!!

Almost (not really, a clever man who knowingly sold the whole country down the river with Brexit) feel sorry for Gove today, did the rounds trying to sound up beat when he was told about the latest gambling scandal.  Finally said "I am almost lost for words..."

HEH

A feel of revolution and a final, conclusive democratic retort to the Johnson ‘I am entitled to make up the truth’ shtick, the May arrogant deafness, Truss idiocy and Sunak repelliamus.

I look forward to the day when Govey is actually lost for words, not almost.

interesting posts on X about how Labour thought election might be called due to betting market activity/odds changing - wouldn't that mean some significant bets, not just a few quid here or there?

Heh it would be hilarious if there were more idiots who had put a bet on!

Medley - not sure how big the bets would need to be. It’s a novelty bet market that is unlikely to attract big money and the algorithm they use is likely to be sensitive to a sudden flurry even of small bets that might suggest inside information had got out.
