TMPM delays vote to 12 March

So she's just quite nakedly running down the clock to try to force parliament to accept her deal then.

We are in the grip of zealots and lunatics.

If you say she's "amazing" I will scream.

The woman is quite mad. The only thing that's amazing is the extent of her delusion

(❤️ you longtime)

Haha no I was just concentrating on screaming but I maintain she is amazing because literally no one could make this work and at least she's not letting bojo be prime minister small wins

I am super drunk watching two north western English cities play each other at a boring sport tho so what do I know

Gove said on Andrew Marr this morning a vote would definitley take place on Wednesday following a statement by TMPM on Tuesday. So she is now lying to her own senior cabinet ministers and secretarys . Mad bitch, time for her to be sectioned.

Anyone know what concessions she has now obtained?

May is using disgraceful small-timer political manoeuvring and jobbery on the biggest constitutional question for 45 years.

Instead, she should be trying to create a consensus.  In fact, she should have done that more than two years ago before she went ahead and triggered Article 50.

Crazy, irresponsible, arrogant, low-rent fookwittery.  Playing politics against a handful of backbench MPs with the livelihoods of millions at stake.

Ooh good plan, delay the vote to gain time to win concessions from the EU, that has worked every time before.

Actually I think the longer this goes on the more likely brexit will be delayed and will eventually not happen given its a stinking idea.

The best chance of the deal happening may be a deal between Labour and the government for the deal plus a referendum on deal to give public chance to choose to stay.

The problem with that idea is you'd have the Labour Party publically endorsing a Tory Brexit agreement, subject to public confirmation. How is that supposed to work?

Yeah, Labour would rather fook the country than cooperate with Theresa May. A great many of them would rather see the country go off a cliff and then go "look what the evil Tories did!" rather than help Theresa May stop us going off the cliff in the first place.

Yes, the deal is shit, but at this point if you're not unequivocally in favour of revoking Article 50 and remaining (or at least a People's Vote) and you're not backing the deal, you're a no deal lunatic. (I'm looking at you, Jeremy Corbyn.)

This entire clusterfvck has been an exercise in party politics from start to finish. Both sides aren't going to stop now.

I also reckon Corbyn wants the chaos of a no deal Brexit to bring about the Glorious Socialist Revolution.

It would not take 6 months to arrange a referendum-  yes that may be how long the organisers want in an ideal world but if it needed to be done in less time it could be - a general election, which is more complex, can be arranged in 4 weeks, so could a referendum.    Frankly everyone has heard enough so a truncated period of campaigning would be a good thing and a simple question  - the May deal or remain is easy to understand and would not require months of focus group testing.   Brexiteer nutjobs would not like it but they will have brought it on themselves, and besides they are small minority tail who we need to stop wagging the UK dog (pretty much to death)

Ebitada, statute can be changed - I don't care what the "stakeholder"s say - it could clearly  take place on  a month's notice just like GEs do if Parliament willed it.

I loved the BBC's headline on this. "MPs to get chance to vote on deal on 12 March".

It's like they're literally just taking dictation from No.10 these days.  Any pretence has gone.

It’s deffo in the end going to be mays deal right, only a few MPs will vote no deal ?

and is she anyway bound by giving a binding vote to parliament or can she just resile from that if she wants ?

Yeah, Labour would rather fook the country than cooperate with Theresa May. A great many of them would rather see the country go off a cliff and then go "look what the evil Tories did!" rather than help Theresa May stop us going off the cliff in the first place.

If Theresa May was even slightly interested in stopping us going over the cliff, do you think she'd have delayed the vote on a deal that she knew in November was in absolute, unchangeable final form in December and again yesterday?  Do you think she'd still be holding the threat of no deal over the country's head, while thousands lose their jobs because of it, purely to get her sh*tfest over the line to secure her job?

This idea that Theresa May is even slightly interested in what's best for the country as opposed to her party, her career and her legacy has to stop being sharted out by people who should know better.  She's a xenophobic little Englander devoid of decency, integrity and respect for democracy.

With the best will in the world 1 month is too short a time .

If parliament agrees the question (which would be necessary under the proposed compromise) why should a referendum take longer to organise than a GE?  Especially as we only had one two years ago so we could just follow the same logistical process on the day.
