Taking antibiotics

i have just been prescribed antibiotics for the first time ever ( or at least cNt remember taking any). It isnt a glamorous infection (sorry) its a skin infection on my hand but there isnt any option as untreated can infest the bone/sepsis/death ugh.

So I dont know if I am allergic to this, I told the doc I hadnt ever taken any and she just kind of laughed.

anyway Ive failed the first test as I was drinking coffee with milk when I read the leaflet saying dont take it within an hour either side of food, so I’ll have to wait and then what if I get anallergic reaction, I’m home alone..

jeez these drugs are not to be taken lightly.

Allergic reactions are very rare. If you had a really bad allergic reaction you'd probably know by now. Anything else would likely be a slow creep and you just stop taking them if you feel rough. I had a reaction to penicillin once and it was mainly a burning redness on my chest and neck. It might muck around with your digestive system a bit too, but it'll pass.

Having food either side won't cause any problems, you just wont absorb as much. Fucidin is a really good topical antibiotic for skin with none of the side effects of taking drugs, it's a shame they didn't give you that!

I took penecillin loads as a kid.  amoxcicillin (or banana medicine).  had some a couple of years ago and went whole body blotchy.  like really whole body.  not a good look.

fvck I hate these antibiotics.Yes I have tried probiotics.

constant indigestion and also ravenous hunger.

the meds require me to take one 60 mis before food and then after food none for 2 hrs after, four times a day. You have to do a lot of planning. The huge hunger they invoke means you have to put up with huge hunger a lot of the day.

fed up. Until thursday I have to do this.
