I know what they are (and believe them to be true) but it doesn't make much sense to me that anyone would bother to injunct them

or interdict them as we would more accurately say

The last time I even met Sturgeon was 20 years ago, outside a Co-op in Ayr.

I don't see anything strange here, the scottish sun has reverted back to full frothing yoon territory.  They sat on the Derek Mackay story for a week until the night before budget for maximum effect.  Reporting on purportedly salacious rumours is entirely on brand.

Everyone does know the rumours tho. Like everyone. And they seem credible. And no less credible for the secrecy.

The 'rumours' that she is apparently so desperate to prevent spreading are being openly discussed on Twitter.

She would be better off just making a full public statement on the matter.
