Rof Gardeners

my aubergine plants were doing dreadfully in my greenhouse.  I've now moved them into a plastic greenhouse within the greenhouse and they have tripled in size... they obviously need a lot of heat.

Does anyone grow aubergines outside here or should I just get a bucket size pot and plant into that in the greenhouse.

my peas are a disaster... I planted about 100 and have only about 20... nothing in the second sowing despite using a fresh pack... peas and beans aren't doing well here....

on your original query, I had a complex hernia operation a few years back and my nads swelled up like aubergines. There was a lot of heat so I can confirm that this does create large ones.

less disgustingly

- my broad beans are doing well this year.

- tomatoes in tubs of home compost are huge whereas the ones in the raised beds are smaller and struggling more. (same variety). . Onions in one bed are twice the size of the other, but one bed is heavy with compost and the other not because things like carrots aren't meant to be composted b because it makes them split and they like a weak sandy soil.Just shows what a decent compost delivers.

- lettuces doing well this year and courgettes too.  the autumn /winter brassicas like cabbage and cav. nero are quite advanced.

My cos lettuces in coke bottles are growing fast.. but the icebergs are like limp dishrags

bok choy and wombok are thundering ahead and all my herbs are fab. Except for the thyme which just hasn’t really ever gotten going.

I know nothing about aubergines of any kind and agree with whomever up there said they are disgusting. The only thing they are good for is baba ganoush.
