So, my father has just discovered emoji's. 

Apparently he considers them the most amazing language innovation ever  because it means he doesn't actually have to say anything to respond... so I have been receiving increasing numbers of emoji responses from him.  

However, he has no fluency in emoji speak and doesn't understand their common usage and parlance. 

So he has just proudly sent me photos of his vegetable garden which is bursting full of pumpkins and tomatos etc. and he followed all these photos...

with an emoji of  the purple eggplant followed by the tongue hanging out. 

 

Do I bother explaining to him what that means in emoji speak... .. or do I just stay well away?
