The Great House at Lavenham isn't a pub, but is (ummm) great. Also there's a good pub literally across the road. not precisely where you want to be, but not terribly far.
The Talbooth is on the way to Dedham from the A12, Dedham is gorgeous (and Flatford Mill on the other side of the river from the village is literally the subject of a Constable painting).
Agree re: Le Talbooth too. The Swan at Lavenham has a little spa and afternoon tea (they also do a gentleman’s afternoon tea with less cake and more sandwiches) and Lavenham is a nice village

Yes. Always best to go for a pub with rooms.

Le Talbooth or Milsomes , both excellent.
Further afield but worth a bit of travel is The Cricketers in Clavering, run by the more talented side of the Oliver family.

The Brudenell is on the beach at Aldeburgh and lovely. It’s a hotel/bar/rezzie rather than pub with rooms though.
I agree re Le Talbooth/Milsoms

Ha. No they’re not TOWIE. It’s practically Suffolk 😊

Le Talbooth/Milsoms are much more old money from Suffolk than new money from Essex.

The Sun in Dedham also has rooms I think?
