Not going to repeat it here but urge anyone with a conscience to look up Sultana’s speech in chamber on 14 April .


It seems our collective media is not covering it (not even that the speech happened)

There are a large number of unfair and draconian retrials.  The CPS are another brainwashed government funded department. Get with the programme.  

Yes because what we need are more unelecteds deciding what the law should be so that minorities can be protected and the massive drain on our economy continue to impoverish the rest of the country.

I wasn’t much of a fan of Tam Dalyell or Kelvin Hopkins as a lover of parliamentary democracy I sure as shite respected their parliamentary system and integrity 

 if you can’t be bothered to look it up and even consider the complaint that’s on you . Not being bothered and then boasting about that indifference is something else altogether

I'm a little conflicted on this.  An acquaintance of mine who's now some kind of You Tube influencer got himself arrested for supporting PA and I couldn't help thinking that he could have done a better job of using his platform to highlight the situation in Palestine without the performative bollocks of filming himself getting arrested for holding a sign.

The Court process.  I am sorry I haven't looked at in detail as trying to focus on measurements DIY... I don't agree with having a retrial in this case.  Not in public interest imo; "justice must not only be done, but must also be seen to be done" I don't think this is the case with these retrials.  Very stressful and unfair on all involved.  Far too many now with CPS getting a second bite of the  cherry.   If the CPS don't prosecute the trial as offences under any terrorist legislation how can they fairly make representations for D's to be sentenced as such? This organization was not proscribed at time of offence so they won't be raising that.  Not likely to prosecute on basis these kids having a picnic though.  However we don't know exactly how the Crown will present it's case at this trial and presumably defence Counsel will make these representations to the Court.

Nothing would surprise me. Fair trials and proportionate sentencing are a thing of the past in the UK.

...which surely means having a trial reach a conclusion on smashing a policewoman's back with a sledgehammer rather than a dozen Thelma Barlows washing their hands.

Its not a trial reaching a conclusion.!It is a full second retrial. 

Anyone with a conscience would wish these nasty feckers to be jailed for  several years for their acts of GBH on a Police Officer.

Oh, and I'm fairly confident I won't be "the one in the hood" because I won't go around hitting policewomen with sledgehammers.

Just to be clear not agreeing with the rapid rise in requesting retrials by CPS and agreeing with fair prosecutions and convictions for GBH is my view. They are not mutually exclusive. 

I’m also all in favour of fair convictions for GBH and Criminal Damage and have expressed that multiple times before 

but anyone with more than remedial google skills can tell this is an accusation concerning the fairness  of the directions to the jury. 
 

This trial has only been reported until late yesterday by Guardian at least.  It started yesterday and I am not commenting on the evidence. However the Prosecution has only just opened and I understood your comment above was referring above to a pre trial directions .  There is no directions to the Jury as yet?  Juries are not normally given details of potential sentences? Regarding asking the court to sentence in a certain way e.g. terror related the Prosecution do not have power to ask for anything outside of current statutory framework? Wouldn't the prosecution have to prove at trial this is terror related to make reps on sentence on that basis? 

none of the 6 defendants are kids.   The six defendants are Samuel Corner (23), Charlotte Head (29), Leona Kamio (30), Fatema Rajwani (21), Zoe Rogers (22), and Jordan Devlin (31).
