The lockdown is actual fascism

The Merriam Webster dictionary definition of fascism is:

"Definition of fascism

a political philosophy, movement, or regime (such as that of the Fascisti) that exalts nation and often race above the individual and that stands for a centralized autocratic government headed by a dictatorial leader, severe economic and social regimentation, and forcible suppression of opposition"

Right now, in the UK the nation is being exalted above the individual ("Stay Home. Save Lives. Protect the National Health Service").

Government is highly centralised as local authorities have very little say in lockdown policy. It is also autocratic, in that a select small group of advisers dictate policy, and no account is taken of dissenting voices.

There is severe economic and social regimentation - just take a look out of your window.

Opposition is being forcibly repressed - demonstrations are banned, media messages are being controlled by the government and dissenting voices on social media are being repressed:

Zerohedge's twitter account was suspended for suggesting that the virus might have escaped from the Wuhan virology lab.

More recently, You Tube took down a video posted by California ER doctors setting out their reasons why they disagreed with the lockdown.

it absolutely is fascism

the fact that people are so blase about this is just beyond horrifying

cockpit

it is fascism

it has all of the hallmarks

you might believe fascism is worth it

that's on you

I said this weeks ago, day 1 of lockdown, and all the cunts on here went spastic.

Listen to the messaging... people need to get used to a new normal, this will last a long time, we cant relax or all the sacrifces will be worthless. .. just wait for the trackers on your phones sending ALL your data and movements to the government once we are allowed to move about.

wibble  -do you think there is any scope to fight it? or are you resigned?

Will we get to wear nice uniforms? I'd love a plume in my hat if poss.

the superior corps wear scrubs

(there are military officers directing central civil service functions at the moment, in case anyone is wondernig about that)

At the moment no. But the tide is begging to turn as people see that its all bollocks.

But then most people are thick as fuck and will do as they are told and like it.

What I don’t get is the idea that we have just now become fascist. Or was the Tory government always already fascist and was waiting for an opportunity to strike? I mean I don’t like them either but that seems a bit much.

Almost any government given the chance will grab power.

I agree. And apologies if I was at the time quite pro-lockdown - I think that for very short periods of time in actual emergencies, brief suspensions of the normal rules (even amounting to fascism) may be a necessary evil. But it has to be understood how fundamentally wrong such measures are, and that they are harmful per se.

It seems to me that being fascist requires a little more in the way of an actual ideology. But tbh I haven’t closely reviewed the Merrimack-Webster dictionary on this topic.

a system is fascist

whether it is sudden or incremental doesn't really matter

right now, we live under conditions of fascism

I don't need to. You're girlfriend is giving me everything I need in that department.

people DO love to be told what to do

it's creepy as fuck - a nation of subs

This is true. Almost all power is in the hands of the state. Individual liberty is massively curtailed. We are all exalted to clap for state employees in a public display of cohesion.

BREAKING NEWS: Actual Facist complains that controls which impede his life and don't seem to actively target foreign and/or brown people are the WRONG KIND OF FASCISM.

not you - you used to be perfectly normal (within a margin).  Hotblack as always been Mr Alt Right.

I still am normal

it is you who has gone mad

I mean not just you

I agree that the current system is authoritarian. I don’t think it’s really fascist per se. Isn’t fascism also generally considered to emphasise traditionalism and nationalist sentiment? Suspicion of intellectuals and “degeneracy”? Racism? If those feature significantly in our current situation I have missed them.

it's like being in an episode of the twilight zone

"we will just stay here and listen to the master"

"but... but you would have to stay here forever!"

"we shall listen to the master"

"but you will die!"

"we shall listen to the master. for the greater good. for the greater good. for the greater good."

"you're - you're mad!"

"CLAP4THENHS CLAP4THENHS CLAP4THENHS"

*shrieks as scene fades*

sorry, nationalist sentiment, chimp?

CLAP BORIS, CLAP THE NHS, SINGALONG WITH VERA LYNN GOD BLESS ER

Clergham has never really been “normal” as long as I’ve been on this board. Not intended to be an insult faod

CLAP BORIS, CLAP THE NHS, SINGALONG WITH VERA LYNN GOD BLESS ER

Heh! Alright, fair enough - but there’s not much talk about retaking France is there?

I would never have self-styled as normal per se but I am definitely not the one who has lost touch with reality here

That’s the US - they are much closer to right-wing insanity than we are

I don’t think you’re any further from reality if that helps

A mass hysteria but only Clergham sees through it.

You're like Edward Woodward in that film.... what's it called again....

chimp, a majority of people expect to stay in their homes until a vaccine is injected into their arms

they are Pluto to the sun's reality

jelly - it absolutely is a mass hysteria

it's not just me who sees it by any means

but the ones who are in it, don't

I would find that very surprising Clergs, I don't know anyone who thinks that save for a few very elderly friends of my parents.  Where is your evidence?  Has a poll been done?

chimp, a majority of people expect to stay in their homes until a vaccine is injected into their arms

I really don’t think this is true.

Mrs Dux thinks that, as she's in the high risk category.

I’m still waitIng for all rof’s fearless millennials to catch COVID for the sake of the cause,

Now probably would be a good time to look at retaking France tbf

She's in her 40s but has severe asthma and other long-standing problems with her lungs.

unless you and the rest of your household stay in indefinitely as well dux, her staying in forever probably isn't going to help long term.

Deeply insulting to people who actually live under nationalistic totalitarian regimes.  Maybe time to pull up your big boy pants and adult?

Well quite, obviously I'd have to as well, yes. Either that or move out. Have to see what the official advice is.

chimp - I promise, a lot of people think that

the papers keep running heavy on "human trials have begun!" so they think it is imminently going to be an option

some are violently opposed to the idea of ending lockdown until then

as for the people who think lockdown is a bad idea, I think it is currently sitting at about 29%, guy (although was originally 7%)

dux - if there is never going to be a vaccine are you going to get divorced or what?

It’s a really strong claim to say that the majority of people expect to sit indoors until there’s a vaccine. If that’s really true then surely lifting the lockdown won’t do anything anyway will it?

Boo hoo i want to do 10 internal flights in a small country !!

dad-eeee!

mum-eee!

make them let me!!

I wasn't asking about the lockdown support Clergs but the assertion that the majority think they will stay indoors until a vaccine is discovered.  The majority are not even staying indoors now.

chimp - at this stage I think lifting the lockdown will result in actual violence between people

I blame the government for this for failing to provide any leadership at all

most don't understand that coronavirus is harmless to almost everyone (no, it isn't "fear for others", it is fear for themselves)

Guy - I think a majority are only shopping once every two weeks and not going out every day. Can't find the poll. Their houses must reek.

You said the majority thought they would not go out at all?   Anyway I think most people under 70 and not ill are going out to exercise most days - certainly 90 per cent of the people I know are - perhaps we could do a rof survey?

chimp - at this stage I think lifting the lockdown will result in actual violence between people

I blame the government for this for failing to provide any leadership at all

We can see whether or not this is likely for us by watching what happens in Europe as they seem to be lifting lockdowns right now.

Rof isn’t representative of the real world

Soz to break it to you.

dux - if there is never going to be a vaccine are you going to get divorced or what?

Of course not, but it's a serious possibility that I'll lose my job. The chances of there not being a vaccine in the next couple of years are very remote.

"Their houses must reek."

Eh? You're allowed to wash and open the windows.

they really aren't - if you read the more realistic scientists they say 18 months is possible if everything goes perfectly to plan but things usually do not, 4 years a more realistic guess

re Europe - apparently Germany is in trouble

the official advice will not necessarily be aimed at a vulnerable individual's best interests dux, it will be aimed at society's best interest.  That is why they are not extending the recommendation for over 70s to stay indoors to younger members of the household even though that doesn't really make sense from a shielding perspective.

Well, there we go then. Can't see the point in fretting about it. It is what it is.

Germany is in trouble with what - a resurgence of cases, or violence between pro- and anti-lockdowners?

It's pretty fvcking disappointing Fascism tbf

Where are the snappy uniforms, mirrored sunglasses, secret police and parades with missiles and tanks? Where is the underground resistance blowing things up?

Trust the UK to have a shit kind of Fascism and an opposition which consists of a few lawyers whinging on the internet but scared to actually resist in case they get a criminal record for having a glass of wine in the park.

I think we’ve had enough of facts don’t you? Can we please stick with clergsuendo?

Now probably would be a good time to look at retaking France tbf

Finally. Come on Chimp, lad, we'll walk through the channel tunnel. They'll never see it coming. I get first dibs on the winsome and welcoming peasant women.

a resurgence, chimp

appaz

but all news is fake news now

that bbc thing is still annoying me

Well obviously British fascism would be rubbish, duh

Germany are fucked. They're never going to be able to come out of lockdown. Ever.

I am starting to wonder if all the 'look at meeee! I am staying home! I am saving lives!' and the 'my neighbour dared to leave his house, burn him!! And he didn't do the Thursday clappping!' bollocks you see on Facebook etc is an army of Cummings-hired trolls to keep the masses compliant.

There was one yesterday shared by my idiot cousin that was berating the media for 'missing the mood' of the country and insisting 'we do not want constant criticism of our government'

yes we fucking do

believing these people are paid trolls is easier for me to believe than that a vast swathe of the country has collectively lost its mind

can't wait until Dom gets his hands on the app tracking data too

If we’re going to have Fascism I want tanks, and goose stepping, and gold braid, lots of gold braid ...

and brutalist architecture and at least the fvcking trains could run on time ...

at least the fvcking trains could run on time ..

Mussolini didn't improve the running of the trains at all in the sense of miles travelled per hour. He just fvcked with the timetable to introduce massive margins of error so that trains were never "late" - but they did just spend a lot of time sitting at train stations.

That's pretty much what Great Western does. And they have cool uniforms. Are they Fascists?

wot dux said - it is called making the timetable "more reliable"

That's pretty much what Great Western does. And they have cool uniforms. Are they Fascists?

Evidence is mounting up tbh.

They are very fond of their whistles at the Paddington end of things

Heh don’t know where they came from gwr crew I am used to have a different vibe...
