Ireland vs Wales

Could go either way.

FAOD I do appreciate that is not a deep or subtle analysis.

Romain Poite is absolutely dreadful. Just consistently awful. Absolute lottery at the breakdown in particular.

Wales can’t expect to compete at international level with such a poor set piece. Second and third tries for Ireland came from Wales lineouts in their own 22. Then went up the other end and lost an attacking lineout in Ireland’s 22 before criminally giving away a penalty off their own scrum underneath Ireland’s posts. Can’t expect to beat good sides like Ireland with that sort of fundamental weakness at key moments.

Deserved win for Ireland.

agree that poite is weak

but the players r being right twots atm

and i actually thought that was one of his better reffing games (note: i only watched bits of the first half)

Imagine having to ref Sexton and Biggar at the same time. Nightmare. You’d have an enormous headache by half time.

Wales are thin on quality coming through the ranks. Some good youngsters but not many players ready to make the step up now. Likes of Tompkins and the young front rowers just aren’t ready for this level.

I think Ireland’s back line is excellent - I think there is much more to come from them if they can get it to click.
