The local commissioner is a former lawyer and muttering about following due process.  As his position is shortly defunct I expect someone will promise him a quango role doing something else if he gets on with it.

There were perfectly decent grounds for not allowing the away supporters but he was too scared to admit it was actually the locals who were likely to be the problem.  See someone like Millwall would be proud of getting a game called off because of the risk they posed.

I'm not a fan of, amongst other things, people who abuse the power of government to enforce the dictats of an evidence free conspiracy theory shared by a handful of bigots upon millions of people in direct contravention of available evidence, their human rights and over the voices of every credible scientific, civil rights and professional body with a qualified opinion to offer Eeyore.  Nor people who put the demands of media outlets owned by a handful of people ahead of the interests of the millions of people who live in this country or whose arrogance places us at serious risk of even further if not complete collapse into autocracy.  None of these are particularly controversial expectations of democractic government. It's Just weird that anyone with any regard to living in a healthy democracy would choose to frame such elementary principles of good governance as an "ideological purity test" as though that was a bad thing. Yes they are a purity test & quite foundational.

I hope he hangs on. he made the right decision for public order and has been unfairly attacked by grandstanding politicos showing off to Israel.

If i was him i would crime out and said:

"I made the right decision to stop these ridiculous middle eastern tribes fighting a street battle in Birmingham, our Nation's Second City.  That is my duty. I knew very well, as we all do, that they are both as bad as each other. And picking sides or ascribing blame would not have helped the poor bloody law abiding citizens of Aston. Now, if the grifting politicians would all just fook off, Ive got a job to do. Sack me if you want but until then Im getting on with it."
