Famous people you've met

Who were either not quite as pleasant as you'd like them to have been or more pleasant than you'd expect.

Christopher Eccleston grabbed his bag, script and stormed off to a different carriage after I’d asked for his autograph. This was difficult to accept at the time as a shy and slightly star-struck teenager who hadn't met anyone off the telly before. It was at the height of his Dr Who fame.

Gary Linekar turning round to pass me my coffee in Costa having picked up the wrong cup.

Met Tara Getty at Virgin Clubhouse at Heathrow - Top bloke and was telling me about disease free buffalo he was breeding after our flight to Johannesburg was delayed for 4 hours.

David Attenborough again at Virgin at Heathrow - Really friendly too but only had a brief chat.

That's an outrageous comparison, Cru! Prince Philip is Greek not Roman.

Westminster always has a chance of being promoted to Cardinal too... at that point Canterbury becomes very parochial in comparison... although this one wasn't tbf

David Jason - absolute c bomb. No one likes hearing it but he should not be a national treasure. Truly ghastly.

Catherine Zeta Jones and rest of darling buds cast were delightful.

I forgot some others:

Patrick Stewart. Generous and charming. He sent me a signed copy of the Complete Works.

Graham Norton's dogs regularly pissed on our front garden. He was nice enough.

Helen Mirren. Arrogant and presumptuous.

David Suchet. Reserved but polite.

Er, we need to know more details.

You mean in the same city? the same hotel? the same room? the same bed?

Don’t post if you cannot cough.

Alexander McCall Smith, when he was professor of law at Edinburgh University.

Very friendly – his law lectures were almost like sitting listening to a stand-up/storyteller

Courtney Love. Definitely more pleasant than you’d expect. Had drinks with her and the rest of Hole at Soho House after they’d recorded a TV appearance (might have been Top of the Pops, I can’t remember) - a friend of a friend knew the bass player, Melissa. She was hawt.

Simon, lead singer from Biffy Clyro. He was my mate’s best man. Lovely guy, great speech. Very warm and funny.

Doug Stanhope. Awesome bloke. Really cool and genuinely interested in making sure his crew and everyone involved in his tour has a great night - was at the celebration /after gig drinks on the last gig of his Uk tour a few years ago - my mates were doing his PR.

Not me but an acquaintance who moved to Lisbon from the UK. He played in an amateur rock band. He told the story of being in a bar and got talking to a guy who was a manager (or the manager) of the Rolling Stones who were doing a concert in Lisbon. The acquaintance said "We are playing a gig tomorrow night. You could come and watch us." I suppose he was hoping for the 'big break. I think the manager actually agreed to do so.

The acquaintance shared a flat with an English girl who worked as a nanny for a wealthy Portuguese family.

He went home and told her "I met the manager of the Rolling Stones tonight". She replied. "Oh, ok. The family I work for had a small barbecue today. The Rolling Stones were there. The family know them quite well."

Dealt with Jeffrey Archer at work (before I became a lawyer).  He told me that I was a fool and that my firm were all fools too.  Not necessarily wrong, but not very pleasant.

Saw Jeremy Paxman in the street once.  He looked quite happy.

Saw Matt Lucas at Victoria Coach Station.  He looked rather out of place.
