England’s women give me a disappointing semi

there is so much scope but the press have demonstrated maturity. Unlike RoF. Come on.

in other news I read in the Times Register of the death of one ‘Pamela Desiree Scrymgeour-Wedderburn’. She must have just finished spelling her name out when she passed away of old age.

It was worth watching just to have a perv over Alex Morgan of the USA.

The English girls are ace when they score. Their faces are like “OMG! I kicked the ball and it went in the net! Have I scored? OMG!”

Yes unlike the men who look like they just came in their pants. . . . .

well if we are going to be all serious and analytical about this, I actually really enjoyed watching the games.  It was refreshingly earnest stuff (we are not dealing with overpaid diva Premier League twots), England had an exceptional team culture and a hunger to win but not the ability.  The games had pace and passion and the only thing I could really criticise technically seems to be the quality of goal keeping and finishing by forwards. To many "here we go... oh" hoofs. The exception to that is goals like those of the US women who have a great touch and maintain poise and power in the penalty area.

by pace and passion I didn't necessarily mean they were zipping up the wing. I meant the games were played with no nonsense long arm-waving injury lie downs, no fooking about with the ball in a throw in etc. Just got on with it. I accept the actual pace of play is quite pedestrian.  But the gaps aren't there, whereas in PL etc there are staccato moments of fast play interrupted by dickabouting.
