Economy booming
  • Economy growing 0.3% in November.
  • September growth figure revised up 200%
  • Inflation falling more than expected in November.
  • Gilt yields have fallen to lowest in more than a year
  • FTSE 100 all time high.

The vibes in the City are impeccable. Great to see Labour policies finally coming to fruition.

This is the delayed effect of the Truss / Kwarteng mini budget. Well done them.

Laz does this kind of hot take with more panache m9.

Of your bullet points, the gilt yields one is significant.

No-one will be happier than me if Labour can just be boring and not crap for a bit.

  • index of shares in companies who get most of their earnings outside the UK at all time high

"Hooray for miners and oil companies and banks" says the OP

This is the delayed effect of the Truss / Kwarteng mini budget. Well done them.

HEAR HEAR!!

Ah good old reliable Meatshield Hall reporting fir duty

Typical socialist response from Tom: ‘I’m all right Jack’

I do do this with more panache, that’s true; panache is one of my strong points, at least in writing.

However yes it’s great to see the economy beginning to fire on all cylinders after Tory austerity, Tory lockdown, Tory Brexit, Tory pillaging and thieving and Tory fiscal and monetary recklessness

"Tiny movements in economic data largely meaningless!"

TBF to Marshall the unemployment rate has been massaged for at least 2 decades by expanding higher education, effectively taking 20% of unemployable young people out of the stats.

On the flip side, Osbore's and his moronic successor's disinvestment in schools and adult skills for 15 years has fooked us for a long time to come: The latest picture on school funding and costs in England | Institute for Fiscal Studies ; Investment in training and skills | Institute for Fiscal Studies

Liz Truss is known for her sparkling wit, easy manner, biting intelligence, and her endearing ability to have a laugh at her own expense, as seen here:

What a good sport!

In her spare time, she loves orienteering, and is very good at finding her way in and out of places, especially through doors.  Liz is not in any way influenced by crackpot US think tanks, and it would be quite unfair to suggest otherwise.  Lettuce pray

Cheap oil prices lower inflation and interest rates come down ironically this happens despite milibean and nothing to do with labour but ofc they will take credit in their usual tone deaf manner

After incompetent Tories at the tiller for so long it’s nice to have a steady hand.

Well done Rach and Sir Keir!

Dream team.

WHAT THE ECONOMY NEEDS IS FOR US TO LEAVE THE ECHR AND CARRY OUT MASS DEPORTATIONS!!

It's not cheap oil prices lowering inflation. It's the money supply:

UK inflation: “monetarist” optimism on track

Bozo printed £400bn. Bailey the dimwit was too late to the party to control the subsequent inflation, and too cowardly to bring down the only real driver of inflation now (housing costs). Russia/Ukraine is a side show.

Also for the hard of thinking - I pay the cost of heating a 2 bed flat on gas to heat a 6 bed house on solar/ASHP/battery. If Cameron had backed up his green w**k with hard measures to promote these things we wouldn't have has to GAF about Ukraine in terms of the impact on gas prices.

I’m sure you’re right about your heating bills but the main driver for an improved UK economy in 2026 is low oil prices.  HTH
