Love him or hate him but fook me backwards he must be the best political strategist ever.
Brexit vote? Done, won.
Massive UK majority? Done, won.
Wtf is left for the guy?
I mean obv I utterly hate him but hats off lads, he has been ridiculously effective.

He’s like Alastair Campbell but not as good

Perhaps he will get taken on by the labour party

He has been effective, but a bit like 1930s Germany for Hitler he has been helped a lot by circumstance. I would agree with Laz, New Labour were more impressive as a machine in the nineties when the stars were not so aligned (I appreciate the Tories were split then but the Tory government was still relatively competent if scandal ridden).

He has always said he’s not a Tory. Someone said on an election programme he is from Durham area. Laz II.

I actually really like Alastair Campbell as he has struggled with his demons but has overcome them. But he didn’t get close to the margins that Cummings had to deal with.

I don’t agree Tec. In my smug remainer bubble I thought the leave ref would be close but remain would win, there were incredible head winds in Cummings favour no one really realised (and yes he spotted them but others did) and then this election he had two trump cards ‘Brexit’ and above all an opposition leader even more attractive than Michael foot. This election was given to him on a plate.
hes good but not that good. Don’t like what he stands for.

And yes Campbell comments on booze and depression are very impressive.

I wouldn’t take my hat off to goebbels and I won’t to Cummings - he is destroying the country

The Union was dying but it will happen more quickly now, and Cummings is one of the architects.

Do you think Cummings wants the union to end. Voters in shithole northern towns are quite unionist.

He is from Durham yes. He’s from very close to where I’m from - the leafy bourgeois bit of county durham that’s still solid Labour.

I don't think he necessarily wants the union to end. However, the way the EU referendum and this election was run is making it more likely that Scotland will leave, and possibly a united Ireland as well.

Maybe architect is the wrong word

Architect? He’s more into demolition than building.
It’s like he listened to Faster by the Manic Street Preachers and drew absolutely 100%, 180 degrees, the wrong conclusion.
I am an architect,
They call me a butcher,
I am a pioneer,
They call me primitive,
I am purity,
They call me perverted.
Holding you but I only miss these things when they leave,
I am idiot drug hive,
The virgin, the tattered and the torn,
Life is for the cold made warm and they are just lizards,
Self disgust is self-obsession honey and I do as I please,
A morality obedient only to be cleansed repented.
I am stronger than Mensa, miller and mailer,
I spat out Plath and Pinter,
I am all the things that you regret,
A truth that washes that learnt how to spell,

That word salad came from Richey Edwards’ tortured mind.
Cummings’ blogs are no more coherent.
Of course, he *intends* to build on the destruction he wreaks.
But his “skills” aren’t really suited to construction (or indeed being constructive).
Divide and rule may work as a short term tactic, but as a long term strategy it’s lousy.
As Cummings and Johnson will discover.

BBB is right. The slightly scary thing is, that could well be next on the agenda.

even if you don’t

Campbell started with Labour in a much worse position than the Tories - or the Leave campaign - were when Cummings arrived. He’s good but he’s not Campbell good.

Alistair Campbell is the guy married to Kate GarrAway right? He used to sit and read the paper in the Giraffe in Islington before it closed down and really piss off my wife because he would ignore his wife and baby daughter to do it

important to keep abreast of current affairs

Dominic Cummings’ blogs are remarkable chiefly for:
- quite how impressed with his relatively unremarkable intellect he clearly is
- quite how easily some are impressed by a half-baked, semi-digested melange of military history (always the preserve of a certain kind of right wing anorak mind), partially understood MBA psychobabble and Bismarck fanboy bilge that has been regurgitated on to a page
- the fact that when reading them you get the sense that he is vigorously polishing his own instrument and reluctantly meandering towards a conclusion only when reaching the vinegar strokes, finishing with a final, juddering spurt as he types the final full stop, then rapidly detumesces just as his mum/wife shouts up the stairs to ask him why he’s “taking so long up there”
I read some of his blog posts once. I got the overwhelming impression that he is a man in his late 40s still trying desperately hard to win the approval of some crusty, right wing history dons he was taught by 30 years ago. He probably thinks he deserves a fellowship at All Souls, where he could hobnob (emphasis on “nob”) with John Redwood and Niall Ferguson over the port.
Quite sad, really.
