Consumer question

I bought a table online from a small furniture manufacturer.

on the website it was described as diameter 61cm which was ok for the space intended. When it arrived it was 76 cm. ( it was also filthy dusty and even at the right diameter would not have fitted the table base very well - unstable).

the conpany told me that because the item was not faulty, just not as described, they would split the return courier cost with me which will leave me out of pocket £15.

for £15 I will pay to get rid of this huge fvcking thing which is filthy and takes us half the top bedroom and I have sent a pretty snotty email to this effect. Only because they are a small manufacturer. I would not give john lewis etc this leeway. I didnt mention it being filthy or unstable, I just want shot of it without further ado.

but just to know, where does the consumer stand with this sort of thing?

They are being cheeky as fvck. The goods were not as described and so you should be able to return them at their expense under the consumer rights act.
