Why is everyone being so coy about what happened?

Because the POLICE ASKED THE PUBLIC NOT TO SPECULATE and I am happy to respect that.

All a bit curious though.

My considered speculation is that the children were on 1 or 2 giant paddleboards on a group trip, and got into difficulty.

Either no, too few, or poorly worn PFDs in the mix.

Arrested chap is the rental guy.

"police ask the public not to speculate" is a ridiculous concept.  Tell us what you think happened and we won't need to.  If you don't then human nature is to guess.

"don't speculate" is code for "remember some children have died - don't be the arsehole on social media insinuating that this is some false flag because sun loungers were moved before a helicopter could land".

Suggestion that the wake from the boat might have caused it. Is that likely looking at the impounded boat?

my thinking is speedboat went in to try and be have a go hero and ended up beheading children with propeller

no, I don’t know why the reports are so coy either

”because some children died” er yeah because that’s always been a reason for media reticence WOULD U LIKE TO TRY AGAIN WOULD U WOULD U

The police have already confirmed there was no impact from a boat.

Isn't it just because a guy has been arrested? Still a bit weird that they haven't given any "ps don't rent out shyt dinghies" or whatever health and safety advice.

Regardless, it is a pity the photographers can't be charged with something. Wonder how long they'll keep those shots of maimed and dyihg children on their devices and if it can be categorised as illegal images since they were in swimwear.

It said on the radio yesterday they arrested the driver of a pleasure boat to see if its wake caused the deaths
