A French judge has been fired after offering up his 12-year-old daughter for sex on a partner swapping website.

Olivier Bailly, who had been in charge of the family division of the Dijon courts for over a decade, was sacked by the judicial disciplinary authority this week.

The 55-year old had posted a photo of his daughter wearing a swimsuit on a site for "libertine" encounters, reported The Times.

The swingers group reported to police that the girl, the youngest of Bailly's three children, had been offered up for what would have been child rape.

Officers posing as punters tracked Bailly down and learned that he and his wife, Sophie Vejux-Bailly, were active swingers, although Vejux-Bailly, who is also a judge, was cleared of involvement in posting their child's picture.

Bailly claimed he was acting out his fantasies and never followed through, and that he was suffering from post-traumatic stress after presiding over the 2007 trial of a rapist and serial killer.

"I do not feel really unworthy of this profession, which I love", he told the hearing, adding that "I think I have been useful and that I can still be useful one day."

He may be useful as a cautionary tale for incestuous child molesters, having been charged with corrupting a minor and provoking paedophile crime, which brings a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

One would have thought that in a civilised country, the reaction on a forum such as this would have been crystal clear. Thankfully the comments are, but I am disturbed that people actually went ahead and downvoted these comments. What kind of people are these? A comment hoping the girl is safe clocks up 3 downvotes. Potential customers?? Shame!
