As the College of Law gears up for a potential sale, it is clear that not all of its senior staff are happy. At least four of them have jumped ship over the last year.

RollOnFriday has been told that the Heads of Marketing, Finance, Registry and HR have all gone, as has the second in command in IT. The College wouldn't comment on the departures, other than to say that one of them took place over a year ago. So the other four have left in the last 12 months.

    The College of Law yesterday

A spokeswoman said that the College employs 850 people across its eight centres and has a 5% staff turnover rate per year, which is low. Indeed it is. But if any law firm were to lose four heads of department in one year serious questions would be asked. Watch this space.

I must be one of the few people to ever have sat the GDL at both CoL and BPP (I did the first year at one before going to the other a few years later). I have to say that BPP obliterates CoL in every observable criteria; standard of teaching, materials, facilities, resources, course structure, etc.

Perhaps the sale of CoL will give them new impetus to become a credible alternative once more.
