Firm bans Blackberries: lawyers "confused and listless"

The rise of the crackberry culture has finally been challenged after one US law firm banned the evil gadgets from all meetings.

Lawyers at Meltzer, Lippe, Golstein & Breitstone have sweating and shaking in meetings after being forced to go cold turkey from their Blackberrys and mobiles. The firm decided that the constant distractions could mean that lawyers weren't paying attention to key issues. The firm now has a "no devices" rule for all important meetings. Although no-one was sure what the punishment for breaking this rule would be - not being allowed to use the big hole-punch either?

"Hello, my name is John and I'm an addict"

The firm claims that the ban hasn't impacted on client relations at all, with lawyers still responding quickly to client queries. Although the lawyers found themselves confused and listless in the absence of their electronic aids, a RollOnFriday reporter imagined without any factual basis whatsoever.

A spokesman for the firm said the move was both a necessary and good thing. When questioned as to just how bad the Blackberry addiction had been before the banning, he just muttered "more than you would want to know".
