This week's career question:
I'm two years qualified with a large international firm, but it's
become rapidly apparent to me that I'm simply not in the right career.
I'd like to get into commercial management with a PLC or another
reputable company which would give me a good base for a career in
management. What's the best approach? Can I "leverage" my legal
training? Or should I try to start from the bottom on a training
scheme while I'm still relatively young? |

I have just received and accepted an offer from another firm. I am
currently at a small practice and am dreading handing in my notice,
particularly because I really do get on with the people I work with,
including the partners. What is the best way of telling them the news?

I know it's early days
yet (I am in my 1st year of my law
degree) but I am already well aware that competition to get into firms
is high and I was wondering how I could go about finding a firm that
was willing to allocate me some volunteer work experience? I know this
will be a vital attribute later on but it's getting onto that ladder
that will be hard!?
