Burges Salmon open day

Anyone else on the open day on the 22nd?

Also, if anyone's been on the day before, I'd really appreciate any tips! Is the psychometric test a standard yes/no/cannot say verbal reasoning test? What does the interview involve? Would also be really interested to know how many people are invited to the two open days and how many actually end up on the scheme...

Thank you!

I went last year.

Super-friendly, starts off with you being broken down into small groups (there were 60+ candidates when I attended).

1. Ice-breaker.
2. Interview (30mins partner, really relaxed and informal)
3. Psychometric logical reasoning test
4. Group exercise, mine was to do with spending a pot of cash on various causes, but you could only pick one.

Also have lunch with the trainees and others, and an office tour.

I didn't get the placement because I screwed up the group exercise, but best of luck!

If you want more details drop me a line on rof.furbz@gmail.com

Thanks for that Furbz! I do have a couple of other questions; if you're ok with just answering them here that would probably be useful to anyone else who is attending the open day as there seems to be no info about it available online. If you'd prefer to email then my address is minimim@rocketmail.com.

The main thing I'm interested in is the interview - was it mostly based on discussing your application form and the usual why law/why us, or were there competency and/or commercial questions too? I guess there's not much I can do to prepare for the group exercise or the test, but just so I know, did the group exercise involve each person arguing their own case or were you put in pairs and made to negotiate against another pair?

Thanks again!

like minimum, i've been invited along to AC too so I hope Furbz doesn't mind if i sneak in a couple of questions too.

I dont have much experience of ACs, so is the psychometric test like a non verbal reasoning test? also, what kind of score are you expected to get?

as minimum asked, is the interview a competency based one or more focused on commercial awareness.

i'd really appreciate any help. offering email addresses seems to be a reoccurring theme on this thread, so please drop me a msg at beckysharp123@googlemail.com if thats easier.

thank you!

No nothing yet. I remember someone saying they would try to get back to us around Wednesday, and at the latest by the end of the week. Which day did you go on, the Monday or Friday?

Congrats desperatelyseeking! Not sure I want to out myself by saying what group I was in tho' - presumably only a couple from each group made it

Do you happen to remember them saying how many vac scheme places are offered overall? There's four schemes, so I'm assuming it must be about 40 in total - hopefully not any more than that! Just trying to work out my TC chances....

well i heard someone else say that it was 35 and then they gave about 25ish TCs. But that was just on the grapevine so i'm not sure of its reliability.
