Things are so bad at Slaughter and May that the firm's most famous partner has emailed all staff and encouraged them to sign up to a discounted beer offer - at a grand saving of 42p a bottle.

Subject: Christmas spirit

Those of you with long memories will recall that our former brewery client, Morland, until they were taken over made us an offer of their beer at a specially discounted price every Christmas.

The former Managing Director of Morland has now established a new brewery, Wickwar, and has kindly agreed to a similar arrangement. He is therefore offering us Bankers Draft ale at £1.17p per bottle (£13.99p per case of 12).

This compares with a typical retail price of £1.59 - £1.79 per bottle retail.

Details are

Bankers Draft is 4% abv and is described as 'pale and malty with a citrus kick'.

The delivery will be made to Bunhill Row prior to Christmas.

Each bottle contains 500 ml.

Those wishing to participate must let Karen Bertram have their order (accompanied by cash or a cheque for the full amount of their order) by lunchtime on Wednesday, 18th November.

What a salesman! Nigel has clearly missed his vocation. RollOnFriday is up for a couple of cases, assumes that Nigel will arrange onward delivery from Bunhill Row and will send its cheque in. Readers around the world are encouraged to do the same.
