Subject: PROMOTING PRIDE
I have read with horror the Press Release about the Law Society CELEBRATING AND PROMOTING PRIDE.
What on earth is going on within the Law Society these days ? Whereas it is entirely accepted that it is within our Code that people should not be discriminated against on the basis of sexual orientation and that equal opportunity polices now cover this, I was not aware that the Law Society had any sort of mandate to actively PROMOTE and CELEBRATE Diversity.
What on earth is going to happen next? Is someone at the Law Society going to tell all solicitors that they must promote to all their male heterosexual staff that they should trying becoming gay or bisexual or transvestites or advise their female heterosexual staff to become lesbians or bisexuals ? Whatever next.
The Law Society should not be taking any action (and particularly should not be using our funds) in respect of these sort of events. The Law Society should respect the fact that the very great majority of people in this country want to bring up their children as normal bisexual people as nature intended. They entirely accept that those of other persuasions should not in any way be discriminated against either generally or in relation to employment but they would not be expecting bodies such as the Law Society to be PROMOTING homsexuality, lesbianism etc.
Unfortunately it seems that many representative and government bodies (and TV) seem to have been hijacked by the gays, lesbians etc within who then push those bodies (through self-interest) into doing just the sort of thing the Law Society is now doing with PRIDE. I am sure there will be hundreds and hundreds of solicitors who will see this press notice and will be equally horrified as I am , but very few will bother to write in to you for fear of being branded “prejudiced”.
I am afraid I have little PRIDE in being a solicitor these days and have even less PRIDE in being a member of a Law Society which has completely lost its way.
