The dear leaders in charge of law firms aren't just strategic visionaries sticking their heads above the parapet, keeping their feet on the ground and putting the front foot forward. They can also be human and, occasionally, morons.

On the human end of the scale, Quinn Emanuel's Managing Partner released a diary of his attempts to find fluffy pillows near Everest

Fieldfisher's senior partner was dropped from his spot on horse racing's disciplinary panel over a conflict of interest scandal. Dentons' Scotland Senior Partner proved he was no horse whisperer when he insulted Scottish clients by suggesting that they were unsophisticated rubes. At least he didn't repeatedly shout "f**k off" in a mediation.

In the end he used up all his lifelines.

But the biggest eejit on the headed notepaper was the HFW partner who cheated in the firm's Christmas quiz. According to his accusers, at least. He denied it, sparking a ridiculous chain of events which spiraled out of control until, almost a year later, he left the firm. And if you still think partners are infallible, check out the distinguished KWM ones calling each other ****s in emails sent to the entire firm.

Management is one of seven categories you can rate out of five in the RollOnFriday Firm of the Year 2018 survey.
