The President of the Law Society has apologised for suggesting at an awards ceremony that he would like to be left alone with his co-presenter, while she was standing next to him.

Mishal Husain, the BBC News and Today presenter, handed out the gongs at this year's Law Society Excellence Awards. She asked Sue Millar, Woman Lawyer of the Year, what the legal profession should do to achieve equality (A: "more feminist men"). Which, said sources, was indicative of the feminist, positive mood at the event, reflecting calls for a reappraisal of workplace cultures in the wake of Harvey Weinstein's exposure.

Until Law Society President Joe Egan made his closing remarks. A source told RollOnFriday that Egan said words to the effect of, "Thank you all for coming. If none of you had come, it wouldn't have been any good. It would have just been me and Mishal on our own. Which, actually..." Sources said he then raised his eyebrows suggestively. Resulting in mass-cringing and heads in hands around the room.

Someone's been living on Mars for the past month.

A source fumed that after "they actually had a conversation on stage about sexism in the profession", the "impressive presenter" was "reimagined as a f***ing dolly bird by the President of the Law Society", just "in case any of the women there had got confused thinking that the work we do is more important than the dresses we wear".

Egan told RollOnFriday, “I am sorry if any off the cuff remarks caused offence to Mishal, this was never my intention”.

It has not been a great week for the Law Society, which as reported by RollOnFriday is also dealing with an application for a judicial review and the fall-out from a data breach.

This is the problem - these men have absolutely no idea whatsoever or else they are as thick as a plank or else they just get a huge erection from making women feel like this. The sooner we just have female Law Society presidents for say 100 years the better.

Would this have got any press if a female presenter had made a quip regarding a "hunky" male colleague at such an event? I think we know the answer to that.

What a clumsy attempt at legitimising this kind of behaviour!

Deary me! So what? Alas, the President of The Law Society is human and has a cheeky sense of humour. I’d be interested to find out how offended his co-presenter was. It wouldn’t surprise me if the PC and feminist brigades now clamour for SRA involvement. The world gone mad - we may as well pack our bags and check into the nearest monastery.

Anon@8:28 - I'm playing sexist cretin bingo with my colleauges. Thanks for giving me a point. Can you please now post something about women not being able to take a joke, witchhunts and banter?

You mean we can get dinosaurs like you out of our workplaces? Thanks! We've all chipped in for your habit.

Things have gone a bit nuts. This guy was attempting a humorous flirt with a very attractive woman. That’s the stuff that makes the world go round. There was no hint that Mishal is not good at her job - there was a hint that she is sexy. And you know what women can be both.

At least it is clear the kind of world that the feminazis want and which we are all being bullied into. There is a minority who want to live in that world but do you?

The puritans were convicted of their beliefs, serious, moral and determined to live lives of piety and decorum. Which is fine. But most of us like Humour, unexpected naughtiness and the occasional thorough going wrong but nice romping rapacious rapscallion lascivious love affair. Let’s not let them stop us.

That’s terribly generous of you. Please do pass on my thanks to your fellow nuns!

How did an OAP who runs a similar above a kebab shop outfit like the one in Coronation Street become president?

SEXIST CRETIN BINGO! I just got the bonus prize for "feminazis".

Feminism is positive. It’s a cancer. The goal is equal rights, treatment and opportunities regardless of gender, not a pretence that women need special treatment and should be encouraged to take offence at every opportunity. The guy’s comment was cringey and inappropriate but I’d challenge anyone to explain in what way it was sexist. He basically announced that he fancied her - there’s nothing sexist about that and women do the same thing with regards to men all the time.

Any woman who takes offence at THIS needs to put the comment into the context of the world we live in - people dying daily of starvation, war and from homelessness. While feminzis get offended by a casual bit of flirting. When did flirting become illegal?

If you want to do some good in the world, feminazis, and strive towards equal rights for all then feminism is NOT the right place to start. Get your heads out of your own asses, feminazis, and go and help the people who are really in need.
