A bizarre internal investigation has taken place at Holman Fenwick Willan after a partner was accused of cheating in a Christmas quiz. The lawyer has denied any wrongdoing.

A partner, whom RollOnFriday is not naming, was the captain of one of the teams entering HFW's Christmas quiz last year. After the team won by a considerable margin, someone tipped off the firm's HR department that its captain "must have seen the questions or answers in advance".

HR enlisted IT, which discovered that the partner's work computer had been used to open the answers on the firm's document management system prior to the quiz. When he was confronted, said an inside source, the partner "denied that he had accessed the questions or answers and said that someone else must have hacked into his computer".

He's going to need all his lifelines for this one.

Following the partner's insistence that he was innocent, HFW's HR team emailed the entire firm informing staff that the partner had alleged that someone must have accessed his computer for the quiz. And that anyone with information about the "major security issue" should report it to HR.

A source said the partner was off work for much of January and February. HFW did not respond to requests for comment, which means it has lost the chance to play for a 14-inch portable telly and an electronic knitting machine.

its their own fault for having the answers on the DMS as a public document. Good initiative I reckon

The partner in question is well known within HFW as by far the biggest wanker you could ever meet.

Wow, I'm sure the partner in question will love the fact that 70+ people agree he's 'by far the biggest wanker you could ever meet.'

MEGALOL.

It's a long time since Xmas. To think he nearly got off scott free. The wanker comments are a but mean tho'...

Seems to me that HR is creating a hostile work environment over a trivial Xmas quiz rather than getting on with some real work. Has YouTube run out of cat videos?

@ anonymous user 30/06/2017 06:35: Partner cheats, then lies about it. And you think its HR creating the hostile environment. If there is a hostile environment, then it is due to unethical partner behaviour. And I am not HFW's HR PR bod.
