Former Golden Turd Plexus has cancelled planned salary hikes two days before payday.

Salary reviews and bonuses were scheduled for May, but management at the PI firm informed staff this week that they were being "withheld" until July. It comes as sources divulged to RollOnFriday that the firm has laid off staff at its London office. And in Croydon, where it has quietly closed the branch entirely.

A Plexus spokesman said, "a number of the facts you have are incorrect". But would not explain which, or how. Instead, he said, "all details relating to the employment of the firms staff are strictly private and confidential and our policy is that we do not comment on such matters".

The poo you can't just wipe from your shoe.

As part of the larger Parabis group, Plexus won the Golden Turd in 2014. Parabis subsequently collapsed, Plexus was sold to a group comprising several of Parabis' original managers and it looked as if the firm might have turned a corner. In the Firm of the Year 2017 survey a trainee said, "You won't actually believe this but things have really improved since the takeover". But now a senior solicitor's comment that "fee earners are all in the same boat so we have a communal understanding it's shit" may better reflect the mood.

Not cancelled: Postponed.
Internal communication has been clear on this. And raises will be backdated, so no problem there.
Check again in a few weeks, but for now: Fake news. So sad.

Anon 9.14, and you're happy with that? I can think of, oh, one reason why a firm would "postpone" payment of salary increases, and that is because of cash flow or profitability issues.

Is the writing on the wall?

Kind of you to ask, fellow Nonny, @9:21.
Happy with that: Yep. As the article points out, been a lot of changes, lots to sort out. People are busy. It'll come.
If it goes tits up, I'll happily eat my words and come back to acknowledge your wisdom.

The article makes it clear this is "postponed" so the only "fake news" is the headline.

If you are due to go to a concert and are told it is no longer happening for unspecified reasons, but will be held in two months, that concert has been cancelled.

My manager has been very up front with me and the team I am in. A full explanation has been provided. The date has been changed. That's it. We are getting our pay rise back dated to earlier than in previous years and I'm happy with that.

I love the fact that the haters still exist, as it gives the rest of us a chance to short them down. I love working at Plexus. We are really busy and have brilliant new offices. We are always kept informed and I feel like I know whats going on. Some people only have hate and fear in mind. New Plexus is so far removed from Parabis is it amazing. This story just isn't news. It's a minority stirring up trouble, again, and we know who they are (the ones who can't keep their clients and are having to leave) Bye bye.

Roll On Friday 26 May 17 13:56

Totally agree with the above. The sooner these "senior solicitor's" who contribute little to moving the firm forward go the better. They are probably already over paid for what they do hence the reason why they don't leave. I wouldn't wait for the pay review before deciding to jump to another boat and then we can have a communal understanding that you added little to the firm anyway. The junior people in the firm are looking forward to the future rather than dwelling on the past.

It is such a shame that all of the good things about Plexus are never reported on ROF . It is always the views of the minority that make the headlines. I have had a meeting with my line manager and all was explained. I will get more money by the end of July so I'm happy. Bring on the sun lotion cos I'm spending it on a holiday. The moaners can get lost. They are certainly in the minority.

Plexus HR Team with time on their hands I see!

"I love working at (insert Law Firm here)" said no one ever in a PI fee earning role.

Definitely only postponed - just like the KWM promise to pay staff in January 2017. That one's been postponed a while as well. The probable reason for this is to fix the costs while the new owners talk to the insolvency practitioners about selling the business in a pre-pack administration (psst DWF - want another shed-load of lawyers from an underperforming firm?). When the administrators are appointed (again), will they still back-date those pay rises, I wonder?

The typos from the "Plexus" people suggest they are not being written by solicitors (who tend to be more careful - words and grammar being their stock-in-trade): capitalisation after colon (09.14), "short them down" (12.14) "I know whats going on" (12.24) and "senior solicitor's" (grocer's apostrophe 12.56). I wouldn't employ someone who made any of those mistakes in an application letter.

Anonymous 26 May 17 15:38

I would certainly agree that the language used in the posts smacks of HR/PR personnel (and low-calibre ones at that, and not lawyers (even low-calibre ones).

Anonymous 26 May 17 16:17

"Senior solicitor's" is in quotation marks for a reason. Please refer back to the original article and send your criticism directly to Roll On Friday as you clearly do not have anything better to do.

Roll On Friday 26 May 17 17:15

haha total Plexus HR/PR:

"I love working at Plexus. We are really busy and have brilliant new offices. We are always kept informed and I feel like I know what's going on"

actual LOL.

Come on Plexus HR guys - do you think a fee earner who'd had their pay review postponed would ever, ever say the below :-

"Bring on the sun lotion cos I'm spending it on a holiday."

Extraordinary.
