RollOnFriday was going to write a story about Newcastle firm Watson Burton's recently filed accounts. But we won't, because this was received in response to our questions:

What we will do instead is to invite readers to look at the firm's accounts:

Watson Burton LLP Accounts 2015

The casual observer may feel that the firm has not had the best year of it. But apparently that observer would be wrong. While the firm would not talk to RoF, it has spoken to other outlets, and told them that a direct comparison with the 2014 figures would be "misleading".

For obvious reasons, comments will not be allowed on this story.

The accounts for the year ended 30/4/2015 state that the 12 junior members were reclassified as salaried employees however these members were terminated per Companies House which is not reclassification. The accounts for the year ended 30/4/2014 did not disclose the terminations of 9 members on 1/4/2014 1 member on 30/4/2014. I assume the driver for the change was that the junior members were not treated as partners for tax purposes as they were on fixed profit shares.
