Personal injury giant Slater & Gordon has rushed to market its solicitors as "Alton Towers Injury Lawyers" in an attempt to take advantage of the accident at the theme park.

Four people were seriously injured when one carriage on the 'Smiler' rollercoaster rammed into another stationary carriage. Shocked onlookers described "blood everywhere" and the trapped passengers screaming in pain. But one thrillseeker's injury is another PI firm's pay cheque, and shortly after the crash was reported several new pages appeared on Slater & Gordon's Accident Advice Helpline website:

Stay classy, Slater & Gordon
(and you, Rantzen)

Other pages were headed  "Accident Solicitor Alton Towers" and, intriguingly, "Injury Lawyer in Alton Towers", suggesting that Slater & Gordon had actually sent someone into the theme park in case something else crashed.

Other firms have been criticised for ill-judged tweets, but Slater & Gordon is apparently the only one to have actually retooled its website to capitalise on the accident. After contacting Slater & Gordon for a comment, the pages vanished. COO of Accident Advice Helpline Barbara Hamilton-Bruce told RollOnFriday, “We have removed the historic pages and articles that related to Alton Towers from our website and apologise for any distress or offence they may have caused to the families".

She added, "Through working with the victims of accidents for many years we know that the families will be thinking of nothing but the recovery of those involved. The victims have been in the thoughts of everyone at the Accident Advice Helpline over the last few days and we all wish those on the ride a speedy recovery." Also, if they haven't got a lawyer they should call 0800 0511 511.
