Former Clifford Chance lawyer gets her sauces snapped up by Sainsburys

Last week it was a
cheesemonger
at
SJ Berwin
. This week it's an ex-
Clifford Chance
sauciere. Helen Tse, a former lawyer at the firm, has signed a deal that will result in her Sweet Mandarin range of sauces being stocked in 500 Sainsburys.
Tse left Clifford Chance in 2003, subsequently working for PwC, Walkers in the Cayman Islands and finally ending up at immigration firm Arthur McDonalds. Six weeks ago she and her sister appeared on Dragons' Den and managed to secure a £50,000 investment for their sauces - barbecue, sweet chilli and sweet and sour - from Hilary Devey and Duncan Bannatyne. They're already stocked by Selfridges, Booths and Wing Yip, and now they'll be found in the Sainsburys' "Free From" aisle (as in, "free from working long hours at a major law firm").
The Tse sisters selling some sauce yesterday
Tse says that her CC background had helped her as "
the documents to apply to Sainsburys were like a closing checklist for a securitisation transaction
". And she has generously invited RollOnFriday readers to try her sauces for free*. Email her at
helen@sweetmandarin.com
with your name, number and address.
*subject to availability, while stocks last, value of sauces may go down as well as up, etc etc.

With their success, in Heinz-sight they mustard wished they had said Tartar to the city years ago! I think they would have been more succesful though if they had started the business with their Daddies? They or if they had gone to Worcestershire to Sauce their products? Anyway, they should be proud and Tobasco in their glory!
Phew, time to coulis down after thinking of those...!
