V Douglas Adams, Cyp.

I had always assumed they were just the French version of the Enigma machine and that this was how the French Maquis communicated during Ze War.

Then why are they all played by Mediterranean blokes wearing flat-caps?

Is there a connection?

I hate the sound of accordions.

I actually love the sound.

this is a Bayan (not a Piano accordion) but rather impressive nonetheless
The performance itself is only bettered by the comment under it saying "some say he fingered a girl once and she's still having orgasms"

Every time someone presses one of those buttons, someone in Albania blows up a puppy and records the sigh it makes just before detonation. They then record that sigh and use it as the sound in the next accordian.

So basically, every time you hear one being played, you're actually hearing the sound of puppypocalypse.

Have any of you read Annie Proulx' Accordion Crimes?
It is essentially a collection of ahort stories charting the life of an accordion from being made by an Italian craftsman in 1890 then taken to USA by an immigrant and all the hands it passes through until it ends up as scrap. It is a fabulius tale of the building of America and the fortunes of its immigrant population.

I urge you to read it. She has quite a way with words and a truly grisly immagination when it comes to describing catastrophic accidents and the like.

This is a concertina rather than an accordian but this guy really knows how to kill those puppies.
