HM Land Registry seem to work amazingly well for a government dept.

I have had to deal with them 3 times in the last 12 months an on each occasion they were nothing less than top quality.

I know its a simple matter but dealt with a deed of surrender in last than 48 hours last week for me.

Depressingly that's all I can think of.

I look elsewhere, and not too far elsewhere it must be said, and seeing what's there am reminded of John of Gaunt's words:

This royal throne of kings, this scepter'd isle,
This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,
This other Eden, demi-paradise,
This fortress built by Nature for herself
Against infection and the hand of war,
This happy breed of men, this little world,
This precious stone set in the silver sea,
Which serves it in the office of a wall,
Or as a moat defensive to a house,
Against the envy of less happier lands,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm, this England...

People are actually pretty tolerant of difference/ Or at least they do not display their hatred of each other openly.

Except here...

Burn them! Burn them ALL.

CWG will recognise their own.

I had a thought last night that I might finally emigrate to America, which would be fairly straightforward in my case. Not a major place, maybe Lincoln, Nebraska, Oklahoma City or Ann Arbor, Michigan.

All I need is a good diner for breakfast, a few good bars and guaranteed hot weather in summer. I am increasingly losing interest in the UK.

If I recall my early twenties correctly, your womenfolk appreciate the Irish accent. Other than that it's been all downhill since Girls Aloud disbanded (and even that was a quarter Hibernian).

Not the US for me, though. I'd probably go to Australia.

Countryside hasn't really changed although at least now there's something that resembles broadband in rural areas and decent shops.

The quality of competitive sailing is probably improving even though financial crisis means that fleets tend to be smaller.

I could buy virtually any house in any of those cities, and do medical insurance.

I just don't like the UK much anymore.
