I was born in Wakefield and therefore know all about it even though I haven't lived there for 35 years

20 years ago it felt like Leeds had the most buzzing legal scene outside London. Did it lose it ?

I remember the infamous RoF Leeds drinks fiasco, which never happened because some idiot was too lazy to organise them, despite saying they would. I am indeed from there, don't live there, but visit fairly often.

There are half a dozen or so to answer your question. More if you extend it a bit further north.

I thought chambers was organising the drinks. I posted about it on the day but no one replied

It's hardly a fiasco.

Bit harsh chambers. Leeds drinks have been suggested a few times over the years but they always seem to fall at the last fence.

Sad banta - yeah to an extent. A few of the Leeds/Bradford banks got taken over about 10 years ago and their head offices left the city centre. Or it went to kittens because I moved back up north. Take your pick.

The next time I will actually organise them, it wasn't me the last time. Maybe a nice outdoor gastro pub sometime in July or August by the canals.

And unlike last time I will post the date, time and venue on here, which the previous organiser was somewhat reluctant to do. Outing paranoia no doubt.

As I don't really care about that, anyone welcome.

We had Leeds drinks with reasonable frequency back in the early 2000s when I lived and worked there. Usually started off at the Victoria on Great George Street or Whitelocks right in the centre.

Haven't been to Whitelocks for years. Does it still smell of wee?

Not since we stopped inviting Donald Trump to Leeds RoF drinks.
