Osborne Clarke joins Slaughter & May, Macfarlanes and Mayer Brown to announce a perfect 100% retention rate, as it will employ all six of its trainees who are qualifying this Spring.
The firm has had a very impressive run. In Autumn 2016 it retained eleven of its twelve trainees with a 92% retention rate, and in Spring last year it scored a perfect 100% with all seven trainees being kept on.
OC fared extremely well in the
RollOnFriday Firm of the Year survey
, coming joint second with a score of 81% overall. Management scored particularly highly with one staffer saying "
everyone adores our Managing Partner who is a total legend - genuinely has people's best interests at heart but without losing commercial perspective
". A senior lawyer praised "
down to earth partners
" and "n
ormal people who treat everyone with respect and courtesy
". And on top of this, another lawyer confirmed that there are "
great biscuits in the meeting room
". Although one partner voiced a concern that there is "
too much cake
".
An OC partner vows to cut down the number of meetings next month
Other firms to have announced their retention rates in the last couple of weeks have all posted decent results. Linklaters is retaining 44 of its 51 trainees with a score of 86%. Allen & Overy is keeping on 31 of its 38 trainees with a retention rate of 82%. And fellow magic circle firm Freshfields scores 84% as it is holding on to 31 of its 37 trainees. While Norton Rose Fulbright is retaining 20 of its 24 trainees with a score of 83%.
